About the Exhibit
Corridan Gallery is proud to present “Further: Inner and Outer Explorations”, a solo exhibit of Photography by Murphy Kuhn. The work encompasses several series of original photo pigment prints exploring realms of inner visions and outer experiences. Kuhn’s photos show a wide range of scale, color and subject matter, but find common ground in quality and originality. His work has been honored four years in a row at the IPA Lucie Awards (International Photography Awards), being chosen from a field of 20,000 to 30,000 entries from 124 countries. In 2008 his work was included in the IPA “Best of Show” exhibit, which is touring 8 countries.
Murphy Kuhn always takes the photographic image a step “further”. He can isolate a view of the Natural world that seems otherworldly, imparting the illusion purely from his own intense observation, often without digital enhancement. By layering, mirroring and digitally enhancing still life, floral or other small objects Kuhn explores his inner visions, taking the viewer to intriguing depths. In recent Black and White abstract work such as the “Structures” series, Kuhn brilliantly creates unique and compelling non-objective compositions. The large format scale of many works in these series provides another illuminating dynamic for the visitor.
The Corridan Gallery exhibit will run from June 9 through July 25, 2009.
